The Centaur Hotels are the units of Hotel Corporation of India Ltd. The Hotel Corporation of India Ltd. (HCIL) is a Public Limited company wholly owned by National Aviation Company of India Ltd., erstwhile Air India Limited and was incorporated
on July 08, 1971 under the Companies Act 1956, when Air India decided to enter the Hotel Industry in keeping with the then prevalent trend among world airlines. The objective was to offer to the passengers a better product, both at the international airport and at other
places of tourist interest thereby also increasing tourism in India.

The Hotel Corporation of India, Flight Catering units - CHEFAIR, Mumbai - Delhi is the pioneers in flight-catering.
CHEFAIR Mumbai started in 1969 by Air India and it undertakes in flight catering to nearly 450 flights a month, besides doing VVIP and Haj flights. It has a production capacity of 10,000 meals per day and produces 3,500 major meals and 1,500 minor meals on daily average. This amount to approximately 1,50,000 meals in a month. CHEFAIR specializes in wide spectrum of menus including Continental, Chinese, Oriental and Thai.
CHEFAIR Delhi situated at Centaur Hotel, IGI airport, New Delhi has a production capacity of 8000 meals per day. For several years, CHEFAIR Delhi has undertaken pre-departure meals for Haj passengers boarding on flights.
